The Woj Symposium Amp.
I am a huge fan of 90s rock band Symposium. They were the most exciting live band I ever saw; their shows were undescriable chaos. I presumed that because I was 17 years old, mostly drunk, and look back on those days with fond memories - that the gigs couldn’t possibly be as good as I remember. Then last year Symposium reformed for a one off gig that was just as good, if not better than ever. Unbelievably good.
At Christmas Woj, the bassist & songwriter of the band listed his Ampeg VST ii rig to sell, and when I agreed to buy it, he kindly drove it up to deliver and we have a phenomanal afternoon chatting, and playing music together
The amp is well travelled, and could tell a great story. Woj bought it in 1996 when the band were signed. Their first show upon getting signed was supported Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Wembley Arena. The amp has mud on it from Glastobury 1997. It was at 4 Reading festivals in a row. It was on stage with Metallica at the big day out festival. It toured the USA playing at CBGB’s in New York & the Whiskey in LA. It toured the UK supporting the Foo Fighters. It was on Top of the Pops, and TFI Friday. It was on recordings that will always make me happy.
It can be on your recordings now as well…….
Listen to Symposium, catch them live if you can. Listen to Woj’s solo records.
Thanks Woj.
